Most of us wait for the Saturday to come. Usually it’s the day on which we expect to sleep and rest a little more than the week days. It’s somewhat different for all volunteers of Helping Hands. It’s on this day all of us at Helping Hands go to the government schools in Gandhinagar and give informal education on Computer and English.
We cover 5 schools in Gandhinagar and aim to cover many more schools across Gujarat. While interacting with those students we found that learning Computer is a big joy to them. To start or shut down the computer or to save a file after writing a few lines in English is an achievement for them. Once during our reading vacation we started taking their classes. We found that they were even ready to sacrifice their summer vacation for learning. When some of the students didn’t turn up we went to their house to bring them. House of one of the student was what we cannot even call a hut. In that shimmering heat he was overjoyed to see us and readily hopped on our vehicle to go to the school. After teaching them when we get ready to leave the sad look on their face inspires us to go to them again.
